As a growing, mission focused, and future-oriented association of YMCAs, the Metro YMCA of the Oranges has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, mission-driven, candidate to join our team.
Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Health and Wellness Director is responsible for the overall daily operation of the Health & Wellness department and all the related programs.
In addition, the position is responsible for staff and budget management, as well as program and service development.
The Health & Wellness Director will assist with implementation of member incentives and retention programs in conjunction with efforts of the branch Marketing and Membership Directors.
To ensure quality member service, satisfaction and to contribute to the success of the Association's membership retention base, the Health and Wellness Director will provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives (see detailed list below).
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed; reviews and evaluates staff performance; develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals - all in accordance with Branch and Association guidelines.
Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Creates and schedules wellness classes.
Designs and implements new health and wellness programs.
Maintains equipment and facilities.
Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required.
Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs.
Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
May review and process program scholarship applications.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
Assists with assigned Program Committee meetings Compiles program statistics.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Demonstrates and models the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Exhibits personal and professional behavior in a manner consistent with the best interest of the Association, so as not to bring discredit to the Association.
Performs such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned by the Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Physical Education, Health and Fitness, Exercise Physiology or other related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of three years of commensurate experience in a supervisory/management position.
Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Have demonstrated knowledge in the makeup of workouts for members at all levels & abilities - youth through seniors, as well as people with disabilities.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communications skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must have flexible work schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
